This committee is devoted to helping children with dwarfism find loving homes, but is NOT an adoption agency. This committee is informative only, and does not have an adoption license.
Adoption of a Child with Dwarfism
If you are already on the path of adoption, congratulations! Adoption is a wonderful, rewarding, and unbelievable experience with a whole lot of details thrown in.

This little baby boy is described as “active and full of curiosity”. He loves to play with toys, especially those that are colorful and noisy, and he will creep across the carpet to get to a toy that captures his fancy. Once he has the toy in hand, he does not easily give it up. He keeps his right hand closed, but will open it and extend his fingers to grasp objects. He does not straighten his left forefinger, but he does allow his foster mother to straighten and massage his hand. He is able to pull himself up and to stand holding on to the furniture. He often stands on his tiptoes, but is making progress standing flat on his feet. This little baby loves to be hugged, touched and kissed. He is wary of strangers, but loves his caregivers, giving them lots of smiles. He loves to laugh and chatter when he is happy.

This petite 5 year old girl is small in both weight and stature, probably due to her brittle bone disease. She is good natured and not afraid of strangers. She asks questions if she doesn’t understand something. She loves playing with other children. During recovery from her surgery she enjoyed watching television and imitating what she saw. She is an extroverted and energetic child.

This happy little guy is incredibly smart for his age and does well in school. He is persistent and will try to finish the things he wants to do until he is satisfied, even when other children give up. He likes to play with cars and is interested in books about cars. He will say the names of different vehicles to teachers and other kids. He likes to look for the same car in different books and gets excited when he is able to identify similar cars. In free playtime, he likes to play ‘house’ with other kids, cooking, washing clothes, and making bed. He will pretend to cook food for his teachers and offer it as a snack. He is very confident, creative and imaginative. UPDATE! 10/2009: When he was 7 years old, he played games with neighbor children. He could dress clothes, socks and shoes in tidy by himself. He could count numbers from 1 to 19. And he could do easy addition. When he could not work out the problem, he would like to use his figures. When he was 71/2 years old, he could help to do some housework, like sweeping, cleaning tables and chairs, etc. He liked to play toy cars. He took a toy car apart but did not know how to install it. When he played cards with foster mother and sister, he knew how to operation them. When he was 71/4 years old, he was lovely and active. Sometimes, he would not to follow your instructions and do something as his own thoughts. And you should explain your instructions patiently. On 9-1-2009, he attended to Guilin Railway School in grade one. He knew Chinese phonetic alphabet, like a, o, e. He could distinguish between more and less, long and short, high and low. He could finish his Chinese and Mathematics exercises by himself. He really would love a family so he can show them all of his potential!

This little guy is 10 years old, and was considered un-adoptable by his orphanage until an advocate fought for him. The orphanage workers say that he is very smart.
But right now, he needs a family desperately. He's never been to school, never will be given the chance at this point. Once he hits 14, Chinese law forbids him to be adopted.
Please consider giving this little guy his family that he so desperately wants!

Liam is a ten year old boy who is very tiny for his age. He was born 8 weeks premature weighing close to four pounds. Liam is 45 inches tall and weighs only 25 pounds. He is completely proportional, and we are unsure of his diagnosis, although he could possibly have Primordial dwarfism. Liam has speech problems and he may have apraxia. Liam is described as a cheerful and smiling boy who is always on the move. He is very social and likes to play with other children. He is excellent at coloring and staying within the lines but he has trouble telling his colors, so perhaps he is colorblind. Liam is independent with his self care skills such as washing and brushing his teeth. He clears his dishes after meals. Liam would love a family!

The Waiting Child by Debbie Bodie
I saw you meet your child today. You kissed your baby joyfully And as you walked away with her, I played pretend you'd chosen me.
I'm happy for the baby, yet inside I'm aching miserably. I want to plead as you go by, "Does no-one want a child of three?"
I saw you meet your child today In love with her before you met And as I watched you take her out I knew it wasn't my turn yet.
I recognize you from last year! I knew I'd seen your face before! But you came for a second babe. Does no-one want a child of four?
I saw you meet your child today But this time there was something new. A nurse came in and took MY hand And then she gave my hand to you.
Can this be true? I'm almost six! And there are infants here you see? But then you kissed me and I knew The child you chose this time was ME.
