Scholarships, Medical Grants and Conference 

Assistance Grants

LPA offers different types of grants and scholarships:

1.     Medical grants for help with medical expenses
2.     College and post-graduate educational and vocational grants
3.     First time national conference attendance assistance grants

4.     Adoption assistance grants.  More information about adoption can be found on the Adoption web pages of this site.


1.     Medical Grants
George Bock Charitable Trust

For reimbursement of costs of major dwarf-related medical expenses not covered by insurance. It is not intended to cover deductibles, co-insurance fees, routine medical expenses, well-baby care or accident related costs.

*Allocations for grants for the Fund to LPA members will be considered throughout each fiscal year. There will be no application deadline.


Health Advocacy Fund

To provide monies for a one-time use to assist LPA members in contributing toward their financial obligations for various dwarf-related medical expenses. The fund shall be used to provide assistance toward the remaining medical expenses after coinsurance, insurance deductibles, and other payments toward medical expenses have been applied.

*Allocations for grants for the Fund to LPA members will be considered throughout each fiscal year. There will be no application deadline.


2.     College and Vocational Scholarships

Scholarship information and applications, including letters of recommendation, are available online from early January and due by mid-April in the year prior to the school year you are planning on attending college. For example, if your intent is to attend college starting in Fall of 2010, then you would need to apply by April of 2010.

Scholarships are given, in order of preference to:

• members of LPA who have a medically diagnosed form of dwarfism
• immediate family members of dwarfs who are also paid members of LPA
• people with dwarfism who are not members of LPA
• disabled students in general
• non-disabled students who can demonstrate a need for financial educational assistance


LPA scholarship awards shall be limited to two awards for undergraduate studies and one for graduate studies, effective beginning the 2010-2011 school year.

3.     Kitchens Fund for First Time National Conference Attendance The Kitchens Fund helps first time national conference attendees offset the costs of attending a conference. Grants average from $300 to $500.
