What an unusual financial year it’s been.

Like many organizations, Little People of America is persevering despite a challenging year. As our
investments begin to recover, charitable support is crucial to continuing our programs and services.
LPA’s future is promising as we approach 2010.

Little People of America raises funds through memberships, donations, and the occasional foundation grant or bequest. It is our members that keep us going and growing. We are happy to report that membership remains strong at 6200 members.

Last year, our members contributed more than $17,000 through our $50 for 50 More Years
Campaign. Because of our generous donors, LPA was able to:

● Reprint our community outreach brochure
● Help 20 families attend the national conference in New York as first-time attendees
● Continue our daily support to members, officers and the public through our office staff, website,
e-mail, and toll-free number.

During 2008-2009, the office processed more than 1,000 household memberships, mailed more than
800 information packets to new members, and answered more than 2,400 phone calls and 4,000
e-mails. We also provided registration support for the New York Conference.

Throughout this year, LPA has cut expenditures and tightened our belt any way we could, including:

● Reducing office staff hours for part of the year
● Mailing the LPA Today bulk rate instead of first class
● Initiating a special fundraising committee to extend LPA's reach outside of our immediate community
● Increasing the accessibility of LPA's peer and parenting documents online to reduce printing and
mailing costs.

While your membership dues play an important role, your additional gift is crucial to LPA. Your gift to the $50 for 50 More Years Campaign will provide the resources necessary to continue and expand our programs and services. By donating, you are not just helping LPA, you are helping the entire dwarfism community.

This year’s $50 for 50 More Years campaign goal is $25,000. I hope you will consider a gift of
$50, $100, $250 or more to help fund the wide range of programs and benefits we offer each of our
members. We certainly understand that many of our members have faced a difficult year as well.
However, every donation is important and appreciated. All donors contributing $50 or more will
receive a variety of recognition benefits as outlined on the enclosed form and below.

Perhaps the importance of your gift can be best summarized by LPA’s Vice President of Programs,
Anthony Connor. “In my position, I have the privilege of awarding Kitchens’ fund grants to families
requiring financial assistance to attend their first LPA conference. Families come to meet other little
people for the first time in their life. They come to see doctors who specialize in the treatment and care of little people. And they come looking for encouragement and support that only the unique
environment of an LPA national conference can offer.”
