The Dwarfism Awareness
Ambassador Challenge        One Month, 10,000 Strong

Dwarfism Awareness Month is here. Little People of America launched Dwarfism Awareness Month in 2009 in an effort to raise positive awareness and share information about the lives of people with dwarfism. Many people within the dwarfism community have done great things for Dwarfism Awareness Month, including getting local politicians to recognize October as Dwarfism Awareness Month, asking local businesses to sponsor awareness month activities, and raising money to support awareness causes. This year, Little People of America is issuing a specific Outreach and Awareness Challenge. LPA challenges the membership to reach out to local schools and organizations during the month of October and to speak to students and employees at those institutions to raise positive awareness about dwarfism. Our goal is to reach 10,000 people during the month of October.

We encourage members throughout the United States to contact their local schools and other local organizations and ask for the opportunity to give a presentation about dwarfism awareness. The LPA Office can provide you with information and resources for the presentation (examples of presentations) and can connect you to people who have made presentations in the past. If you are able to set up a time, then report back to the Little People of America Office. Tell the office what event you attended, the location of the event, and how many people you reached, and tell the office how the presentation went. The LPA Office will track progress toward our goal of 10,000 throughout the month, and will share updates with the membership. Everyone who participates will be recognized in some way.

The challenge is open to everyone, young people, adults, little people, and their family and friends.

Together, we can reach our goal and we can spread dwarfism awareness to people around the country.

Good luck to everyone.
